First Trailer For Rings Is HERE!

It’s been a few months since we’ve had any concrete info on upcoming horror sequel – sequel, not remake or reboot or anything else – Rings, which is one of the most anticipated releases of the year just by virtue of its existence.

But now, out of absolutely nowhere, we’ve got the very first trailer for the flick for you to feast your eager eyes upon. And to obsess over for the next couple months before the film finally hits theaters.

In it, we’re given a pretty intense glimpse at actress and contortionist Bonnie Morgan as Samara, as well as some of the chaos she causes, including, in what is sure to be a memorable sequence, on a plane full of terrified passengers.

The trailer seems to showcase the Ring spirit we know and love, which should soothe anyone worried about Samara’s storied legacy (although her Japanese originator is soon to do battle in Sadako Vs Kayako). Check it out for yourself below.

Rings will be released in theaters on October 28th, 2016. As we previously reported, Javier Gutiérrez, the director of the upcoming installment, has promised that his new film will absolutely be a sequel and not a prequel to The Ring.

The synopsis for the upcoming movie is as follows:

A new chapter in the beloved Ring horror franchise.  A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it.  She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…

Akiva Goldsman, David Loucka and Jacob Aaron Estes co-penned the script, which is based on a novel by Koji Suzuki.

The 2002 feature film, The Ring tells the story of a haunted VHS cassette that causes anyone that watches it to die seven days later. The tape is associated with the ghosts of a young girl named Samara who appears to have died an untimely and violent death.
