Robert Englund to Play Freddy Krueger (And His Twin Brother) in Upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street Redux

Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger - Creepy adult coloring books

*This story originally ran as an April Fool’s Day joke* As we first reported back in August, another remake is in the works for the A Nightmare on Elm Street series. To be clear, this is not a sequel to the 2010 remake. This is an unrelated series reboot just six years after the least less than successful attempt to reimagine the franchise hit theaters.

Today brings word that Robert Englund will, once again, don the fedora and play Freddy Krueger one last time. What’s more, a source close the production tells us that Englund will also play Krueger’s twin brother, Ed Krueger.

As we previously reported, David Leslie Johnson (Orphan) will be scripting the latest reboot and Toby Emmerich, Walter Hamada, and Dave Neustadter will executive produce the project for New Line. It is still unknown who will be at the helm of the planned remake.

As you surely know, the 1984 original sees serial killer Freddy Krueger stalking teenagers in their dreams to claim revenge on their parents who burned him alive years before.

You can be sure that we will continue to cover this forthcoming reboot as more news is announced. Stay tuned to the site in the coming months for the latest on this project as it breaks.

Happy April Fool’s Day, Wicked Horror readers.
