Screen Gems Taps Director for Slenderman Feature Film

Beware the Slenderman

Following on the heels of the release of a Slenderman documentary, we now have word that the Internet meme will be be making his big screen debut courtesy of Screen Gems. According to Deadline, the studio has tapped Sylvain White (I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, Fox’s Sleepy Hallow) to helm the project. The film is expected to begin production this spring.

For anyone that isn’t up on their creepypasta: The Slenderman is a tall, thin, faceless man with extremely long arms. He has been cited as the inspiration for acts of real life violence and was recently discussed at great length in Irene Taylor Brodsky’s documentary Beware the Slenderman which made its world premiere at SXSW last March and will make its world television premiere January 23, 2017 on HBO.

The Slenderman is perhaps more prominent than he’s ever been right now. The character has developed a storied history in the years since he first haunted the Internet. To say the least, he is easily the most well known creepypasta on the Worldwide Web.

Stay tuned to the site for more on this project and the latest in horror news as we learn it.
