Showtime Doubles Episode Order for Twin Peaks!

Twin Peaks

Following on the heels of the awesomely good news that David Lynch will be on board for the Twin Peaks reboot, we now have some equally exciting knowledge to drop. We have just learned that Showtime has doubled the season three episode order from nine to eighteen! We were tipped off on the big news by the fan site Welcome to Twin Peaks. The site also hinted that it will be Lynch who will direct all eighteen of the season three episodes. We should have a better idea as to the validity of that last statement the next time the network sends out press release. This and more was revealed by Twin Peaks Alumni Sherilyn Fenn and Sheryl Lee at Crypticon in Seattle.

The show will begin lensing this September in Snoqualmie, WA and North Bend, WA. All of of this is music to our ears, seeing as it wasn’t long ago that we were reporting that Showtime had pulled the plug on the series.

David Lynch and Mark Frost have reportedly turned in scripts for the planned third season of the program. The eighteen episode series is expected to enjoy a limited run beginning in 2016. The premiere is expected to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the series’ original bow on ABC.

Twin Peaks followed the exploits of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who was sent to the logging town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer. The show lasted for two seasons and developed a massive cult following. Since it was cancelled prior to the the storyline being completed, a movie, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me was released in 1992.
