The upcoming giallo-inspired horror thriller The Editor will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. It tells the story of a film editor named Rey who becomes embroiled in a puzzling murder mystery. The film studio he is employed by is plagued with a rash of unexplained deaths and Rey is caught in the middle. The only thing he can be certain of is that nothing is what it seems.

The Editor has a lot of great talent involved. Tristan Risk (American Mary) and Udo Kier (Blade) will star with Adam Brooks and Matthew Kennedy directing. Brooks and Kennedy are the creative geniuses behind the epically low budget Manborg and the Troma exploitation film Father’s Day.

An NSFW teaser trailer was recently released and it is very much an homage to the giallo films of the ’70s and ’80s. If the film is as good as the trailer makes it appear, I think this will be well worth checking out. As a big fan of both giallo filmmaking and Brooks & Kennedy, I am anxiously anticipating the release of this upcoming feature.

A stateside release date has not yet been decided but we will keep you in the loop as more information is made available.
