Fans of The Woman in Black have cause to rejoice. Coming on the heels of last week’s announcement that the sequel to the 2012 film has been acquired for US distribution, we have just received word that The Woman in Black: Angel of Death has nailed down both a stateside and a UK release date. The Woman in Black: Angel of Death is poised to hit theaters January 30, 2015 in the US and February 13, 2015 in the United Kingdom. Hammer reportedly has plans to build a franchise around The Woman in Black. So, pending the success of this second installment, there will likely be a threequel heading into production in the near future.
The picture stars relative newcomer Phoebe Fox, Helen McCrory (Showtime’s Penny Dreadful), and Jeremy Irvine (Mary Shelley’s Monster). The second installment in Hammer’s The Woman in Black series is helmed by Tom Harper (The Scouting Book for Boys) and written by Jon Croker. This marks Croker’s first genre film script and Tom Harper’s first time helming a horror picture.
Set forty years after the events of the first film, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death finds a group of young children transplanted from WWII London to the notorious Eel Marsh House where they encounter a series of terrifying events that can only be described as pure evil.
