More than fifteen-years later, a sequel to the 1999 sharksploitation film Deep Blue Sea is in the works. Unlike previous attempts to sequel-ize the film, this one has already gotten off the ground. In fact, the project is currently in production in Cape Town.
The news comes by way of MovieHole. The site is also reporting that the project is being developed directly for premiere on the SyFy channel.
Darin Scott (Dark House) is at the helm of the upcoming follow up effort. The cast includes Michael Beach (Aquaman).
No word just yet on when the film will make its debut on the cable network but we will keep you apprised as we learn more.
The storyline (according to MovieHole): “Dr Klaus Van Etten is experimenting on bull sharks, much to the chagrin of Misty and her team of marine experts. The sharks get out, of course, and all hell breaks loose.”
