Last week, we reported that Hemlock Grove star Bill Skarsgård was in final talks to play the terrifying, and iconic, Pennywise in Andrés Muschietti’s upcoming IT redux.
Ever since, fans have been chomping at the bit to see what the actor might look like in the infamous clown getup (although we’re going to have to wait a bit longer, since the movie doesn’t even start shooting until July).
Now, thanks to imgur user CodyOng, we might have some idea.
Take a look at the Photoshop mock-up below and you’ll see that CodyOng has envisioned what Skarsgård might have looked like, had he, quite literally, stepped into Tim Curry’s giant clown shoes in the original TV miniseries.
Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise the clown in the remake of Stephen King’s IT.
Truthfully, it’s not the best representation of Pennywise I’ve ever seen (counting fan-art) but regardless, it’s a fun way to stoke interest in the upcoming flick.
And, judging by the amount of responses, it’s certainly a major talking point.
IT is due to begin shooting in Canada in July, although the California Tax Credit is being utilized so at least part of the feature will lens there, too. The producers are aiming for a hard R-rating, while the creative team’s intent is to stay as close to the source material as possible.
It has been a long road to get this project ready to go before cameras but the remake is now moving full steam ahead. Original director Cary Fukunaga departed the remake over budgetary disagreements with the studio.
Andrés Muschietti (Mama) is now set to helm the forthcoming adaptation of the Stephen King tome. Gary Doberman wrote the most recent draft of the script, with Muschietti. The film is currently targeting a September 8, 2017 release date.
The 1991 television miniseries and the forthcoming remake of IT are both based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. No additional details on the upcoming project are available at this time but stay tuned to the site in the coming months and we will keep you apprised as more news is announced.
