We have just discovered a newly released image from the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, Leatherface. It was shared via Instagram by producer Christa Campbell. While it doesn’t shed much light on the film’s narrative, it’s still nice to know that things are moving forward on this long-discussed project. Check it out for yourself, below!
The newly released image features a young woman sitting in a run down diner. Campbell captioned the snapshot with the following: “here’s a little taste for all the fans”
In a recent interview with BD, Leatherface directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo revealed that the film has secured US distribution via LionsGate, the same studio that distributed Texas Chainsaw. They also offered a brief description as to what we can expect from the film, calling it “a brutal and nihilistic road movie that we hope will surprise and delight the fans…”
Lili Taylor, James Bloor Sam Strike, Stephen Dorff, and Angela Bettis star in the upcoming prequel, which will follow Leatherface as a young man.
The script was penned by Seth M. Sherwood. The film is expected to see release later this year but an exact release date has not yet been announced.
