We’re just seven days away from the full reveal of Frightfest‘s 2016 line-up, and anticipation is suitably high.
Before that, though, we’ve got our very first reveal of Graham Humphrey’s reliably stunning artwork for this year’s festival, which you can check out above.
The annual August Bank Holiday event, which takes place from Thursday, August 25th to Monday, August 29th this year, is the UK’s largest celebration of genre cinema.
The exciting relocation to the Vue cinema in Shepherd’s Bush is reported to be Humphrey’s inspiration behind the poster, which is the usual mixture of the gorgeous and the macabre.
On the new design, Humphrey said:
This year’s relocation suggested the idea of a floating cinema that can move through the city. Going west, I took it all the way to Louisiana, as portrayed in the film ‘Southern Comfort’. re-imagining London as a swampland
And on his inspiration for the piece:
I took my cues from a variety of sources …the paddle steamer was inspired by the work of Mark Twain and the skulls from the script of Orson Welles’ unmade Heart Of Darkness. There’s also a nod to Hertzog’s Fitzcarraldo. The witch house I added for extra Scooby-Doo points!
Horror Channel and Frightfest have agreed a three-year partnership deal, which sees the CBS Studios International/AMC Networks International UK-owned channel become the headline sponsor for the festival.
On the new partnership, Frightfest co-director Alan Jones enthused:

Together we recognised the further potential in each other to celebrate the horror fantasy genre on an even wider canvas than before, something followers of both of our brands can appreciate
Frightfest 2016 will take over all twelve screens in the Vue Shepherds Bush over five massive, horror-filled days.
Under a 2 year deal with Vue Entertainment, the festival has the option to return to the Vue Leicester Square, where it took place the previous two years, in 2017.
