Josh Stewart’s (The Collection) ‘found footage’ wilderness survival horror film The Hunted will be making its way to home video next month. It received a brief theatrical bow across a handful of theaters and is now headed for DVD and VOD September 9th from Entertainment One.
The Hunted marks Josh Stewart’s feature film directorial debut and sees him doing triple duty. In addition to directing, Stewart penned the screenplay for The Hunted and also stars in the film alongside Ronnie Gene Blevins (Suburban Gothic). I was initially a bit concerned that the film is rated PG-13 but the handful of advance reviews I’ve read speak positively of it and the trailer does look fairly promising. I’m beginning to think this one may be worth tracking down when it streets on September 9th.
Purporting to be based on actual events, this ‘found footage’ style horror film follows Jake (Josh Stewart) and his best friend Stevie (Ronnie Gene Blevins) as they take to the woods with a camera, a pair of crossbows, and the ultimate goal of scoring their own hunting show. Once the guys get into the deep wilderness, they quickly discover that they are not alone. They come to realize that there is someone or something after them and whatever it is, it’s out for blood.
