The road to release for the latest installment in the Paranormal Activity franchise has been a rocky one. The film was initially slated for a 2014 theatrical engagement but was later pulled from Paramount’s 2014 lineup and scheduled for a release sometime next year. Today Paramount has shared the news that the film will see release March 14, 2015 which was a date previously reserved for the Paramount title Scouts vs. Zombies. The studio also given word that Scouts vs. Zombies will be pushed forward for a February 20, 2015 release.
In addition to securing a new release date, the newest Paranormal Activity picture has also been rebranded as Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. The upcoming title will be helmed by first time feature film director Gregory Plotkin. Plotkin will direct from a script penned by Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark who previously collaborated on Project Almanac. We don’t have much to report in terms of plot specifics for the fifth film in the franchise other than that this incarnation will be zeroing in on a brand new family with two young daughters at the forefront of the mayhem.
