If you have been dying to see a third Hellboy film go into production, you are not alone. In fact, the Hellboy himself took to Twitter to reveal that he would love to see a third film happen. In the days since Ron Perlman posted a tweet saying that he wants to see a third film made, that tweet has been retweeted over 18,000 times and has more than 14,000 favorites. While the Hashtag #HellboyIII didn’t become a trending topic, that’s still not a bad turnout.
As far as the likelihood of another Hellboy film, Guillermo del Toro explained during a Reddit AMA last year that the films didn’t really find their audience until home video. Both the original and the sequel did make their budget back at the box office but they did not become massively successful until they were released on DVD. With video sales no longer being a guarantee, financiers are hesitant to get on board with a third installment. The director also admitted that he had shopped the project to virtually every major studio and none were interested enough to invest.
If you want to see another installment in the Hellboy series, get the word out and tweet using the hashtag #HellboyIII to let the world know you are on board.
Anybody out there wanna see #HellboyIII as much as I do? Let’s get this muthafucka trending, y’all! Let’s end the trilogy; we earned it!
