TheWrap has broken news regarding the English-language remake of the South Korean serial killer thriller, I Saw the Devil.
The original I Saw the Devil directed by Kim Jee-Woon is a classic revenge tale portrayed spectacularly. Elite special agent Kim Soo-hyeon’s (Lee Byung-hun- G.I Joe) pregnant fiancé is murdered by the evil Kyung-chul (Choi Min-sik- Oldboy). This prompts Kim to lure the killer into an increasingly violent game of cat-and-mouse.
It was announced back in December of last year that I Saw the Devil would be getting a U.S. remake which is a real challenge considering it’s such a brilliant movie.
The team behind You’re Next, The Guest and the V/H/S franchise, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett, are on board to write and direct this remake. As big fans of their work and I Saw the Devil, I have high hopes for the pair.
Snoot Entertainment’s Keith Calder and Jessica Calder will also produce with Adi Shankar (Dredd) and Spencer Silna.
It has been said that Barrett has already started writing the script and director Wingard has begun meeting with actors.
We will keep you updated with information when more details come in as this is definitely one to watch!
