Into the Storm is an elemental thriller that pits a group of high school students against a Category 6 tornado. While trying to survive the storm, the group simultaneously documents their experience.
Into the Storm is written by John Swetnam (Evidence) and directed by Steve Quale (Final Destination 5). The film stars Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit films), and Jeremy Sumpter (Frailty). Into the Storm was filmed over the summer of 2012 and is slated for a release August 8, 2014.
The film is something like Twister reimagined as a ‘found footage’ picture. No reviews have surfaced yet, which is a little unusual with the film’s release date only a week and a half away.
The trailer looks fairly generic. There are certainly some high profile effects employed within the film but it’s tough to say if that will be enough to set this picture apart from the barrage of ‘found footage’ and disaster films that hit multiplexes every summer. We will be able to make up our own minds soon as the film will hit theaters next week.
